Schedule

• Scheduled shifts with no call
• Standard 5, 8-hour shifts: 19:00 – 07:00 (flexible)

About the role

This is a temporary locum tenens assignment in a float-pool facility. Specific details may vary based on the facility, patient population, and emergency department volume.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, comprehensive medical care to patients with emergencies and acute illnesses
• Conduct thorough patient assessments, including history, physical exams, and diagnostic tests
• Diagnose and stabilize life-threatening conditions
• Develop and implement treatment plans for acute medical and surgical emergencies
• Perform emergency procedures such as suturing, wound care, and splinting
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., X-rays, CT scans)
• Prescribe medications and manage pain
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
• Document patient care accurately in medical records
• Maintain a calm, professional demeanor in high-pressure situations

Requirements

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school
• Board certification in emergency, internal, or family medicine (ABEM, ABIM, or AOA)
• Active, unrestricted Texas medical license
• At least one year of emergency department experience preferred
