About the role

Provide comprehensive cardiac care in an acute-care hospital. Specific duties vary by facility, patient population, and cardiology subspecialty.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive cardiac care to patients in inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures such as EKGs, echocardiograms, and stress tests.
  • Interpret diagnostic tests and develop treatment plans for cardiovascular conditions.
  • Perform cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures (if applicable to subspecialty).
  • Educate and counsel patients on heart-disease prevention, risk factors, and healthy lifestyles.
  • Collaborate with nurses, surgeons, and other specialists to ensure coordinated care.
  • Maintain accurate and complete medical records.
  • Stay current on cardiology advancements through continuing education.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
  • ACGME- or AOA-accredited residency in internal medicine.
  • Fellowship training in cardiology (preferred for some positions).
  • Board certification in cardiology by ABIM or AOA.
  • Active, unrestricted Mississippi medical license.
  • At least one year of clinical cardiac-care experience (preferred).

Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of cardiology principles, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention.
  • Strong clinical judgment and decision-making in fast-paced environments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Technical proficiency in diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures (if applicable).
  • Exceptional manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and adaptability to changing patient conditions.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.

Schedule

  • 13-week assignment starting 09-21-26.
  • Standard 5-day work week, 8-hour night shifts (19:00 – 07:00).
  • Scheduled coverage; no call required.

Pay

$250 – $280 per hour.
