Job Duties
- Respond to service calls and requests related to the operation, repair, maintenance, and alteration of doors, hardware, keys and key systems.
- Ensure work is of the highest quality while meeting all safety and security codes.
- Troubleshoot minor and complex issues and provide expert knowledge on solutions.
- Utilize electronic sources of trouble shooting and problem identification software.
- Provide exceptional customer service by responding to requests in a timely manner (according to priority timeframes), communicating status to the customer, and following up when the work is complete.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and time expended using the work management software.
- Participate in the on-call rotation and respond to emergency situations, including during off hours, as needed.
Preventative Maintenance And Project Work
- Perform preventative maintenance activities including periodic visual and hands-on inspections to hardware, doors, and lock systems.
- Update and maintain records in the work management software including but not limited to key holder records, lock inventories, and changes in building occupants.
- Participate and provide expertise in project management meetings regarding equipment replacement, renovations, and new building plans.
- Complete other locksmith project work as assigned.
Leadership and Mentorship to the Facilities Division
- Participate, support, and demonstrate Facilities Forward concepts and contribute to a positive work culture.
- Demonstrate leadership qualities during work activities.
- Mentor, develop, and train apprentices and new employees.
- Oversee and provide feedback about contractors performing hardware/door installations or repairs on campus as needed.
Safety And Training
- Follow all locksmith codes and recognized policies/procedures, techniques and safety precautions in performance of duties.
- Keep current on all required safety trainings, code license updates and any certifications required.
- Continuously seek out professional development opportunities that will benefit the University and your technical skills to stay current on technical skills and be knowledgeable of best practices, future trends and technologies.
