About the role
Locate Technicians are responsible for accurately locating underground facilities including, but not limited to, telephone communication lines, electric power lines, cable television lines, gas lines, fiber optic lines, water lines, and sewer lines. This position is a key component to ensure compliance with client and state requirements.
Responsibilities
- Observe, locate, mark, and document underground and exposed utility locations using multiple methods.
- Dispatched to locate and verify for utility customers.
- Works independently or in a team environment, working under assigned supervisors.
- Performs locates and emergency/on-call locates during regular, overtime, and holiday hours as necessary to meet customer needs.
- Communicates with management team, contractors, and utility customers to ensure a damage-free environment.
- Interprets job order tickets, blueprints, and maps to efficiently route and perform duties.
- Works in and walks over all types of terrain in and around construction zones and residential, commercial, industrial, and rural areas in various weather conditions.

- Uses technology and tools needed to perform tasks.
- Lifts over 50 lbs and stands/walks for multiple hours a day.
- Communicates effectively with customers, co-workers, and third parties.
- Interprets and reads complex prints and documents.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalency (GED)
- State issued driver’s license
- Ability to problem solve
- Ability to read, interpret, and decipher multiple types of prints
- Vacuum truck experience
Qualifications
- Able to lift over 50 lbs
- Able to walk/stand for multiple hours a day
- Excellent communication skills
- Pass a Background screening (no violations within the last 5 years)
- Pass a DOT drug test
