Locate Technician

Job Summary

Utility Locate Technicians are responsible for accurately locating underground facilities including telephone communication lines, electric power lines, cable television lines, gas lines, fiber optic lines, water lines, and sewer lines. This position ensures compliance with client and state requirements.

Responsibilities

• Locate and mark underground and exposed utility locations using a transmitter and various methods.
• Interpret job order tickets, blueprints, and maps to efficiently route and perform duties.
• Perform locates and emergency/on-call locates during regular, overtime, and holiday hours as necessary.
• Communicate with management, contractors, and utility customers to ensure a damage-free environment.
• Work independently or in a team environment, working under assigned supervisors.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalency (GED)
• State issued drivers license
• Ability to problem solve
• Read, interpret, and decipher multiple types of prints
• Vacuum truck experience
• Able to lift over 50 lbs
• Able to walk/stand for multiple hours a day
• Excellent communication skills
• Pass a Background screening (no violations within the last 5 years)
• Pass a DOT drug test
