Locate Technician

About the role

Utility Locate Technicians are responsible for accurately locating underground facilities including electric power lines, gas lines, and fiber optic lines (minimal). This position plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with client and state requirements.

Responsibilities

• Locate and mark underground and exposed utility locations using various methods.
• Work independently or in teams, adhering to assigned supervisor’s direction.
• Interpret job order tickets, blueprints, and maps to efficiently route and perform duties.
• Perform locates and emergency/on-call locates during regular, overtime, and holiday hours as needed.
• Communicate with management, contractors, and utility customers to ensure a damage-free environment.
• Problem-solve and communicate effectively with others in a supervised team environment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalency (GED)
• State issued driver's license
• Ability to lift over 50 lbs
• Ability to walk/stand for multiple hours a day
• Excellent communication skills
• Pass a Background screening (no violations within the last 5 years)
• Pass a DOT drug test

Qualifications

• Computer skills: 1 year (Preferred)
• Utility Locating: 1 year (Preferred)
