Locate Technician

About the role

Locate Technicians are responsible for accurately locating underground facilities including, but not limited to, telephone communication lines, electric power lines, cable television lines, gas lines, fiber optic lines, water lines, and sewer lines. This position is a key component to ensure compliance with client and state requirements.

Responsibilities

• Observe, locate, mark, and document underground and exposed utility locations.
• Work independently or in a team environment, working under assigned supervisor.
• Perform locates and emergency/on-call locates during regular, overtime, and holiday hours as necessary to meet customer needs.
• Interpret job order tickets, blueprints, and maps to efficiently route and perform duties.
• Communicate with management team, contractors, and utility customers to ensure a damage-free environment.
• Use technology and tools to perform work in various weather conditions and terrains.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalency (GED)
• State issued driver's license
• Ability to problem solve
• Read, interpret, and decipher multiple types of prints
• Vacuum truck experience

Qualifications

• Able to lift over 50 lbs
• Able to walk/stand for multiple hours a day
• Excellent communication skills
• Pass a Background screening (no violations within the last 5 years)
• Pass a DOT drug test

Schedule

The schedule is 10-hour shifts from Monday to Friday, with weekends as needed.

Education

A High School Diploma or equivalency (GED) is required.

Experience

One year of computer skills is preferred.
