About the role
Curry Transfer and Recycling, a Waste Connections company, is seeking a safety-conscious Non-CDL Garbage/Recycle Route Driver to join our team in Brookings, OR. This is a year-round position with no seasonal layoffs, and you will be home every night.
Schedule
- Monday – Friday, with occasional Saturdays
- Start time: 3:30 AM – 6:30 AM (depending on route)
- End time: When the route is complete (typically 8–11 hour days)
Pay
- Starting at $21.00–$24.00+/hour (DOE)

Responsibilities
- Safely operate a collection vehicle on specified routes to collect solid waste
- Read route sheets and service each customer identified on the sheet or assigned by the dispatcher
- Perform routine inspection and maintenance on vehicles, including checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires
- Perform physically demanding tasks, such as loading and unloading waste bins, moving bins to accessible positions, and closing enclosure gates (sometimes without helpers)
- Operate hydraulic hand controls to lift/load refuse, operate the compactor, and dispose of collected material at designated facilities
- Clean up areas around accidental waste spills
- Complete daily reports on pre- and post-trip inspections of equipment
- Fuel vehicle daily and maintain the physical appearance of the equipment, including routine washing
- Monitor over- and under-filled carts/containers to assess changing service requirements
- Monitor the condition and repair needs of existing carts/containers
- Follow all safety policies and procedures
- Provide courteous customer service and perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
- Extensive physical activity requiring strenuous work, including heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling objects over 50 pounds
- Ability to mount and dismount the truck multiple times daily while on route
- Exposure to physical risks, such as moving mechanical parts, requiring adherence to basic safety precautions
- Exposure to outside weather conditions, including frequent wet/humid conditions, fumes, and vibration
- Moderate noise levels
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license
- Clean driving record (MVR) – required
- Pass criminal background check and drug panel screening – required
- Perform routine vehicle inspections
- Minimum 1 year of experience related to the specified duties and responsibilities
- Working knowledge of D.O.T. laws
- Ability to work a physically demanding job
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend reports to complete daily assignments in English
