Local News Photographer

WMTW, the ABC affiliate in Portland, Maine, is seeking a Local News Photographer to capture and convey the essence of field events for our viewers. This role involves shooting, editing, and executing creative live shots, as well as editing content for newscasts. You will collaborate with reporters, producers, and the assignment desk to ensure high-quality, accurate, and engaging content.

Responsibilities

• Shoot and edit VOs, VO-SOTs, and packages for broadcast and online platforms.
• Collaborate with the Assignment Desk and reporters to cover daily stories.
• Operate professional camera equipment and edit in Adobe Premiere.
• Use ENG, SNG, and wireless data to feed completed work to the station.
• Gather video and still pictures for digital platforms.
• Work with reporters and producers to ensure accurate and compelling content.
• Coordinate incoming video elements from field crews.
• Use catalog systems to save, store, record, and locate video assets.
• Produce and publish content to online platforms.
• Maintain and organize gear and equipment.

Requirements

• Training or experience in video photojournalism (professional or college-level).
• Newsroom experience preferred.
• Ability to carry up to 50 pounds of equipment.
• Experience with ENG trucks and working in all weather conditions.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Proficiency with digital editing tools, including Adobe Premiere, Precis, and CNN platforms.
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
• Unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards.
• Ability to manage the stresses of time-sensitive newscast production.
• In-person attendance is required.
• Related military experience will be considered.

Pay

The estimated base salary range for this role is $42,000 to $47,000 annually. Actual pay depends on transferable skills, work experience, business needs, market conditions, and geographic location.
