About the role
This position supports the Qavartarvik Customer Lodge in Bethel, AK, focusing on the preparation, production, and presentation of a variety of foods, particularly for the cold cook station. Responsibilities include assisting with cold sandwiches, salads, and other grab-n-go items. We are seeking to hire local residents.
Responsibilities
- Properly, safely, and efficiently prepare food products while following standard food-handling procedures.
- Follow assigned menu and recipes.
- Perform all cold line food production duties, including preparing salads, cut fruit, sandwiches, and cold desserts.
- Review daily needs with supervisor(s), complete production sheets, and verify supply needs and availability.
- Attend daily Culinary Planning Meetings (CPM) and weekly CARES meetings.
- Maintain quantity and quality control in food production and overall sanitation of assigned areas.
- Ensure work areas are thoroughly cleaned and organized prior to the end of every shift.
- Follow proper rotation procedures for produce and dairy products.
- Maintain food production equipment and storage areas following sanitation, safety, and operational procedures.
- Use proper PPE for job tasks and follow all safety policies, requirements, and training.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- At least one (1) year of pantry cooking or relevant experience.
- Food Handler card, Alaska Food Workers card, or ServSafe certification within 30 days of employment.
- Contract requires candidate to get a flu shot pre-hire and annually thereafter.
- Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Preference given to candidates with lodging industry experience.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Environment: Indoor hotel restaurant with moderate noise level and high customer interaction.
- Constantly required to stand; frequently required to walk.
- Occasionally required to lift, pull, push, and/or move up to 50 pounds.
