About the role

Texas Public Radio is a dynamic, non-commercial, non-profit multimedia outlet, operating seven public radio stations that broadcast across 39 counties, covering a vast 40,000 square miles of South-Central and West Texas. Our flagship stations, KSTX and KPAC, primarily serve San Antonio and its neighboring counties, while our other stations reach the Hill Country, Highland Lakes, Del Rio, Gonzales, and the Midland/Odessa regions. With a broadcast reach of 3.6 million people and a digital presence accessible to anyone with broadband, TPR is committed to bringing quality content to our diverse and expansive audience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee key functions including on-air sound, audio production, programming coordination, radio automation, traffic operations support, and on-air fundraising coaching.
• Partner with leadership to unify the station’s on-air identity across Texas Public Radio’s news and classical networks, strengthen audience engagement, and ensure consistent, high-quality broadcast execution aligned with organizational standards and mission-driven goals.
• Co-manage radio automation systems, serve as a key backup for traffic operations, and provide hands-on technical and production leadership to support daily programming needs.
• Guide production best practices and contribute to the continued evolution of Texas Public Radio’s programming strategy and public service mission.

Pay

Salary range for the Assistant Director, Programming & Production position is $70,000 - $90,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
