Responsibilities
- Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues with correct documentation.
- Comply with DOT rules and regulations as well as with company policies and procedures.
- Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions.
- Collect and verify delivery instructions.
- Report defects, accidents, or violations.
- Absolutely ensure trailers are locked out and chocked before loading/unloading.
- Maintain driver log according to DOT regulations.
- Maintain contact with supervisor, dispatcher, and scale house operator to receive work instructions.
- Work in a timely, safe, and responsible manner to meet customer or company requirements.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 22 years old, have a minimum of 5 years of experience, and possess a valid Class A CDL license.
- Clean driving record. Not cited for a D.O.T. defined accident in the previous three years.
- Ability to pass the DOT physical and drug screen.
- Knowledge of and compliance with company policy and all federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing the operation of company equipment.
- Good communication skills; conveys information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing; adjusts communication to meet the needs of the audience.
- Ability to read and understand documents such as BOLs, Freight logs, and intermodal trans documents, safety rules, operating, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to use a digital camera and upload pictures according to company standards.
- Adapts to change quickly and easily and performs effectively during times of change; demonstrates the ability to multitask and manages competing priorities effectively.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations.
- Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions, etc.).
- Be a safety champion by promoting a safe and productive workplace through your own actions, including the proper use of PPE, safe operation of powered equipment, and safe lifting techniques as determined by the role.
