Medical Solutions is seeking a local contract nurse RN Stepdown for a position in Salem, Virginia. Specialty: Stepdown. Discipline: RN. Duration: 13 weeks, 36 hours per week, 12‑hour night shifts. Employment type: Local Contract.

Responsibilities

• Work on a 15‑bed stepdown unit.
• Unit staffing: 22 total (RN/PCT); day shift 3‑4 RN, 2 PCT, 1 Clinical Coordinator; night shift 3‑4 RN, 1 PCT.
• Patient ratio 4‑5:1.
• Equipment includes cardiac telemetry, chest tubes, cardiac drips (NTG, Cardizem, Amiodarone), post‑cath patients, post‑surgical patients (open heart, lung, general surgery, post‑op orthopedic requiring cardiac monitoring).
• EMR: Meditech.
• Typical procedures: post cardiac cath, EP studies, device placements, groin management, chest tubes, post‑op surgical patients; critical drips, epidurals, PCA.
• May float to ICU taking PCU‑type patients, PCU, or med‑surg (taking 5 patients).

Requirements

• PCU experience.
• Knowledge of cardiac rhythms and surgical patients.
• Chest tube management.
• Epidural management.
