Local contract position in Nashua, New Hampshire for a Physical Therapy Assistant. Assignment starts 08/24/2026, lasts 13 weeks, with a 40-hour work week and an 8-hour shift from 08:00 AM to 04:30 PM.
About the role
The Physical Therapist Assistant will primarily provide outpatient rehabilitation services in an in-home setting for the older adult population. This may include a patient's private residence or their room in an independent living facility. The role allows evaluation and treatment in the patient's home, facilitating increased independence and functioning under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist. This position offers a flexible schedule and work environment across various settings.
Responsibilities
- Attend and contribute to patient care, staffing conferences, and other required meetings as a representative of physical therapy, under the direction of the physical therapist.
- Adhere to department and patient treatment schedules, timely clinical and billing documentation requirements, and work-related meetings.
- Collaborate with other members of the rehabilitation team to implement programs and activities consistent with each patient's needs and capabilities.
- Assist the Physical Therapist during tests, evaluations, and complex procedures.
- Instruct patients, families, and caregivers in the skills and techniques of the physical therapy treatment program under the supervision of the Physical Therapist.
- Maintain appropriate and timely documentation for all patients treated.
- Clean, maintain, identify, and report the need for repair of equipment as necessary.
- Prioritize patient service, ensuring a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes individual needs and rights.
- Implement the patient's individualized treatment plan as established by the primary Physical Therapist.
- Provide individualized physical therapy treatments, including but not limited to:
- Therapeutic exercise (aerobic capacity conditioning, balance coordination, agility training, body mechanics, postural stabilization, flexibility exercises, gait and locomotion training, neuromotor development training, relaxation, strength, power, and endurance training)
- Functional training
- Manual therapy
- Airway clearance techniques
- Integumentary repair and protection
- Use of electrotherapeutic, physical agent, and mechanical modalities
- Health and Wellness interventions
- Falls Risk Interventions
- Chronic Disease Management
- Education
Requirements
- Valid license in the state(s) of practice, or proof of license eligibility.
- Valid driver's license or reliable, independent transportation to and from patients' residences.
