Local Contract Physical Therapist - $52 per hour

Physical Therapist needed for a local contract position in Bradford, Pennsylvania. This role provides outpatient rehabilitation services in an in-home setting for the older adult population, which may include a patient's private residence or a room in an independent living facility. The position offers a flexible schedule and work environment in various settings.

Responsibilities

• Supervision of Physical Therapy Assistants, temporary licensees, students and support personnel in accordance with state licensure requirements and professional standards
• Adherence to department and patient treatment schedule, timely clinical and billing documentation, and work-related meetings
• Attend and contribute to patient care, staffing conferences, and other related meetings
• Make referrals to other disciplines and agencies to address the comprehensive needs of the patient
• Consult with other members of the rehabilitation team to select the most appropriate therapeutic regimen consistent with the needs and capabilities of each patient
• Adapt programs and/or plans of care according to the needs of the individual patient
• Promote a safe environment and enforce the elimination of fire and safety hazards
• Order supplies and equipment as necessary; clean, maintain, identify, and report the need for repair of equipment
• Put patient service first, ensuring patients and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere
• Screen, examine, and evaluate patients, including history, systems review, and application of appropriate tests and measures; synthesize information and interpret examination findings to establish a diagnosis, identify impairments, determine predicted level of improvement and time required, identify precautions/contraindications, and design a plan of care
• Develop appropriate treatment goals and methods in collaboration with the patient and caregivers; implement the physical therapy treatment plan; complete all related documentation and record keeping
• Apply therapeutic techniques including:
  • Therapeutic exercise (aerobic capacity conditioning, balance coordination, agility training, body mechanics, postural stabilization, flexibility exercises, gait and locomotion training, neuromotor development training, relaxation, strength, power, and endurance training)
  • Functional training
  • Manual therapy
  • Airway clearance techniques
  • Integumentary repair and protection
  • Use of electrotherapeutic, physical agent, and mechanical modalities
  • Health and wellness education on chronic disease management
  • Falls assessment and interventions to reduce fall risk
  • Case management in the home and community
• Design, fabricate, fit, and/or apply adaptive devices; train patients in the use of adaptive devices including orthotics and prosthetics
• Select appropriate activities suited to the individual's physical and mental capacity, intelligence level, and interest
• Instruct patients in skills and techniques required for participation in mobility activities; evaluate patient progress, attitudes, and behavior as related to rehabilitative potential
• Perform routine reexamination as needed to modify/progress plan of treatment
• Incorporate health and wellness programming into treatment plans
• Perform home and community mobility assessments and provide recommendations for safe mobility
• Perform other related duties as required

Requirements

• Valid Physical Therapy license in the state(s) of practice, or proof of license eligibility
• Master's degree in Physical Therapy; OR Master's degree in a Physical Therapy related field in addition to a Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy; OR Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy plus 5 years of progressively responsible PT experience
• Physical Therapy degree earned outside the U.S. must be evaluated to be the U.S. equivalent to a degree in Physical Therapy
• Valid driver's license or reliable, independent transportation to and from patients' residences

Pay & Schedule

• Length of assignment: 14 weeks
• Shift: 08:00 AM - 04:30 PM
• Hours per week: 40 hours (minimum guarantee)
