About the Role

Medical Solutions is seeking a talented healthcare professional for a local contract nursing position in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). This role offers flexibility and competitive compensation for nurses whose clinical skills are matched by their sense of adventure.

Responsibilities

  • Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients.
  • Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; note all changes in physician orders on assigned patients.
  • Assist physicians in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment.
  • Obtain and monitor physiological data of patients, observe physiological manifestations, and intervene when necessary.
  • Administer medication as prescribed.
  • Initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products.
  • Deliver patient care competently.
  • Interact with family and patient in sharing care plans while in the hospital and at time of discharge.
  • Inform patient and family of hospital procedures.
  • Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
  • Delegate tasks to support staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing required. Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Nursing from a Board-approved program preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification:
    • Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC).
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
    • PALS (American Heart Association) required within 1 year of hire.

Skills

  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
  • Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques.
  • Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
  • Basic computer skills.
