Local contract position in Cary, North Carolina for an Occupational Therapist. Assignment starts 08/24/2026, lasts 13 weeks, with a 40-hour work week and an 8-hour shift from 08:00 AM to 04:30 PM.

About the role

The Occupational Therapist will primarily provide outpatient rehabilitation services in an in-home setting for the older adult population. This may include a patient's private residence or a patient's room in an independent living facility. The role allows evaluation and treatment in the patient's home, the most functional environment. The Occupational Therapist organizes and conducts occupational therapy programs to facilitate rehabilitation, directing patient participation in selected tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance. The position facilitates learning skills and functions essential for adaptation and productivity, aiming to diminish or correct pathology. This role offers a flexible schedule and work environment across various settings.

Responsibilities

Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants, temporary licensees, students, and support personnel as necessary, in accordance with state licensure requirements and professional standards.
Adhere to department and patient treatment schedules, including clinical and billing documentation requirements and work-related meetings.
Attend and contribute to patient care, staffing conferences, and other related meetings.
Make referrals to other disciplines and agencies to address the comprehensive needs of the patient.
Consult with members of the rehabilitation team, including community physicians, to select the most appropriate therapeutic regimen consistent with patient needs and capabilities.
Adapt programs and/or plans of care according to individual patient needs.
Promote a safe environment and enforce the elimination of fire and safety hazards.
Order supplies and equipment as necessary; clean, maintain, identify, and report the need for repair of equipment.
Prioritize patient service, ensuring patients and families receive high-quality care in a compassionate atmosphere that recognizes individual needs and rights.
Screen, examine, and evaluate patients, including history, systems review, and application of appropriate tests and measures.
Synthesize information and interpret examination findings to establish a diagnosis, identify impairments, and determine predicted levels of improvement and time required.
Identify precautions/contraindications and design a plan of care in collaboration with the patient and caregivers.
Implement the occupational therapy treatment plan and complete all related documentation and record keeping.

Instruct patients in skills and techniques required for participation in functional activities.
Evaluate patient progress, attitudes, and behavior as related to rehabilitative potential.

Requirements

Valid Occupational Therapy license in the state(s) of practice, or proof of license eligibility.
Valid driver's license or reliable, independent transportation to and from patients' residences.
