Local Contract Occupational Therapist - $47 per hour

Local contract opportunity in High Point, NC for an Occupational Therapist to provide outpatient rehabilitation services in an in-home setting for the older adult population. The role involves evaluating and treating patients in their private residences or independent living facilities.

About the role

The Occupational Therapist organizes and conducts therapy programs to facilitate rehabilitation, directing patient participation in tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance. This position offers a flexible schedule and work environment across various settings.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants, temporary licensees, students, and support personnel as required by state licensure and professional standards.
• Adhere to department and patient treatment schedules, including clinical and billing documentation requirements and work-related meetings.
• Attend and contribute to patient care and staffing conferences.
• Make referrals to other disciplines or agencies to address comprehensive patient needs.
• Consult with rehabilitation team members, including community physicians, to select appropriate therapeutic regimens based on patient needs and capabilities.
• Adapt programs and care plans according to individual patient needs.
• Promote a safe environment and enforce fire and safety hazard elimination.
• Order, clean, maintain, and report equipment needs and repairs.
• Prioritize patient service, ensuring high-quality care in a compassionate atmosphere.
• Screen, examine, and evaluate patients, including history, systems review, and application of tests and measures to establish diagnoses and care plans.
• Develop treatment goals and methods in collaboration with patients and caregivers, implement therapy plans, and document all related services.
• Apply therapeutic techniques in areas such as cognitive skills, muscle strength, coordination, endurance, mobility, sensory awareness, balance, activities of daily living, and more.
• Design, fabricate, fit, and train patients in the use of adaptive devices, including orthotics and prosthetics.
• Select activities suited to patients' physical and mental capacities, instruct patients in functional activity skills, and evaluate progress and rehabilitative potential.

Requirements

• Valid Occupational Therapy license in the state(s) of practice or proof of license eligibility.
• Valid driver’s license or reliable, independent transportation to and from patients' residences.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Schedule

• Start Date: 09/28/2026
• Duration: 12 weeks (13 weeks total assignment length)
• 40 hours per week, 8-hour shifts (08:00 AM - 04:30 PM)
• Minimum guarantee: 40 hours
