Local Contract Nurse RN - Med Surg - $52-57 per hour

Local contract nursing position in Geneva, New York for a Med Surg RN. Start date ASAP, 13-week duration, 36 hours per week with rotating 12-hour shifts. Extended contracts through holidays required. Includes 2 on-call shifts every 4 weeks with variable day/night shifts.

About the Role

The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high-quality compassionate care to patients and families. Responsibilities include assessing patient needs, developing and adjusting care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, providing direct care, and evaluating patient progress throughout the episode of care. The RN specializes in caring for adult, adolescent, and geriatric populations with medical conditions and promotes patient and family education for self-care beyond hospitalization.

Responsibilities

• Applies nursing knowledge and skill in delivering care through direct observation, assessment, and communication with the healthcare team.
• Creates and adjusts individualized, culturally relevant care plans based on patient needs, setting goals and monitoring progress in collaboration with the patient, family, and healthcare team.
• Promotes, advocates for, and protects patient health, safety, and rights while fostering teamwork and mutual respect among team members.
• Delegates tasks consistent with individual education, training, and scope of practice, and complies with infection prevention strategies.
• Educates patients and families on self-care and healing at home, tailoring teaching methods to learning styles and evaluating retention of key information.
• Provides tools and information to assist patients and families post-discharge and documents education and responses.
• Evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, engages in self-evaluation, and seeks professional development opportunities.
• Develops helping, trusting, and caring relationships with patients and families by being present, listening, and anticipating needs.
• Administers medications and performs interventions with potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens.

Requirements

• Current NYS RN Licensure.
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA only).
• NIHSS certification.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as an RN in a Med/Surg environment.
