Local Contract Nurse RN - CVICU - $55-60 per hour

Local contract nursing position in Neptune City, New Jersey for a CVICU Registered Nurse.

About the role

The Registered Nurse is responsible for evaluating patients and assisting physicians with patient care. Plans, implements, and documents nursing care based on patient's needs. Identifies patient needs and determines priorities for care through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. Develops, implements, and coordinates individualized plan of care for patients assigned through initial and on-going assessments. Initiates assessment based on the patient's problems or needs, the physician's medical diagnosis, and the functional health framework. Performs therapeutic nursing interventions. Manages care of patients. Documents care based on standards of care and practice, patient acuity, and/or clinical priorities. Advocates for evidence-based practice care standards and supports adoption of evidence-based practices and innovations in care delivery. Provides patient-centric care in alignment with the professional nursing practice model. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and assist physicians with patient care
• Plan, implement, and document nursing care based on patient's needs
• Identify patient needs and determine priorities for care through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation
• Develop, implement, and coordinate individualized plan of care for patients
• Perform therapeutic nursing interventions and manage care of patients
• Document care based on standards of care and practice, patient acuity, and clinical priorities
• Advocate for evidence-based practice care standards
• Provide patient-centric care in alignment with professional nursing practice model
• Float to other ICUs as required

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience working in Cardiovascular ICU
• Strong experience in telemetry, stepdown/surgical, thoracic, and vascular stepdown
• LVAD competency
• Strong open-heart background
• Experience with Balloon pump, CCRT, ECMO devices, cardiac outputs, SWAN, chest tubes, and post-cardiac surgery patients

Qualifications

Education

• ASN required
• BSN preferred

Certifications & Licensure

• NJ State Professional Registered Nurse license or multi-state compact license
• BLS-AHA
• ACLS-AHA
• NIHSS
• CEU Contact Stroke 4 Hours
• Telemetry certification

Schedule

• 13-week contract starting 09/07/2026
• 36 hours per week
• 12-hour night shifts: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
• 3 x 12-hour shifts per week
• Every third weekend required
• No holidays required
• No on-call requirement
