Local Contract Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse - $44-51 per hour

About the role
We’re seeking talented healthcare professionals whose adventure game is as strong as their clinical game. This role supports both our Med Surg units and progressive units. Spectrum Health is the largest health system on the West side of Michigan and is deemed a safety hospital for the community, meaning we have a responsibility to the State of Michigan due to our size and level of care. As a safety hospital, we are the only Trauma level 1 in this area and cannot turn away patients despite high census. New units have been opened to address community needs, and staff may be expected to support urgent units as needed.
Responsibilities
- Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan.
- Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA, including ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
- Strives to achieve optimal outcomes for patients with a variety of diagnoses, with a focus on neuroscience patients:
- Traumatic Brain Injuries (Severe Concussions, Brain Bleeds)
- Stroke Patients (Symptoms or Recovery)
- Neuro Surgery, post-op craniotomies, spine surgery, headache patients
- Fall risk patients
- Patients with underlying conditions such as dementia, confusion, behavioral health, and mental health concerns
- Must be quick on your feet; this role has minimal downtime.
- May need to travel to other units or campuses as needed.
