Loan Officer - Agriculture

About the role

GreenStone Farm Credit Services is seeking a dedicated Loan Officer to provide lending and agricultural expertise to our valued customers. You will build strong relationships to increase our loan portfolio by combining agricultural and business knowledge with an in-depth understanding of each customer's current financial position. The role involves providing innovative and workable alternatives to solve problems customers face in their ongoing farming operations.

Responsibilities

• Gather financial information from customers and listen attentively to their needs, identifying both expressed and latent needs to provide tailored solutions.
• Maintain a comprehensive sales database, recording all customer interactions and transactions, and establish ongoing prospecting plans to attract new customers while nurturing existing relationships.
• Develop and commit to individual sales goals for loans and financial services, striving to exceed targets.
• Collaborate with tax, accounting, insurance, or other specialists on joint sales calls to showcase GreenStone’s range of financial services.
• Differentiate GreenStone as the go-to organization for financial services by exceeding customer expectations in every interaction.
• Maintain a significant professional presence in the local community to strengthen relationships and build trust.
• Analyze moderately sized mortgage and commercial loan requests, either independently or with a Credit Analyst, ensuring detailed, accurate, and timely analysis aligned with GreenStone’s risk parameters and customer needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• 1+ years of experience in the agribusiness/farming industry or equivalent experience in agriculture credit or closely related field.

Skills

• Basic knowledge of loan products and services and credit operations.
• Knowledge of farm production methods and products.
• General understanding of farm business management, finance, and macroeconomics.
• Knowledge of various business/financial applications.
