SUMMARY

The Loan Documentation Manager leads a mid-sized team of associates responsible for the preparation of loan documents and the loan closing process for commercial, business, and consumer banking loan transactions. As the bank's subject matter expert, the Loan Documentation Manager oversees the multifaceted and quick-paced production environment of the team, acting with authority as a problem solver and ensuring transactions are closed professionally and promptly. This leadership position interacts with numerous internal and external professionals to ensure documents provide maximum legal protections to the bank while delivering service levels that meet or exceed expectations. This position is directly responsible for the quality and effectiveness of loan documentation, including adherence to the loan approval, loan policies, efficient and effective loan closing procedures and compliance with the control environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Serve as a subject matter expert with respect to consumer and commercial loan documentation and closing, including a thorough understanding of debt instruments, entity formation, security agreements, guaranty agreements, business loan agreements (including familiarity with financial reporting and covenant structures) and the perfection of collateral including titled vehicles, trading assets and real estate
  • Develop the oversight and processes centered on quality assurance, including the development of appropriate LaserPro workflows and pre-closing quality control reviews of the completeness and accuracy of loan packages to ensure that the loan transaction and approval complies with the terms outlined in the loan commitment/credit memo, and is structured in accordance with regulatory guidelines and corporate loan policy and procedures
  • Oversee the validation of loan details entered by loan officers into the loan origination system; prepare loan documents accurately, develop and monitor closing instructions in partnership with bank counsel, closing attorneys, and/or title companies
  • Manages and complies with numerous regulatory mandates, including detailed processes such as flood determinations and notice disclosures and HMDA, as appropriate
  • Works in close partnership with Loan Operations, line of business leaders, and a variety of lenders representing consumer, business, and commercial banking transactions
  • Ensures the accuracy and completeness of loan packages regarding perfection of collateral, adequate insurance, satisfaction of loan conditions and a plan for the appropriate disbursement of funds pre-closing; Directs the team on matters regarding surveys, commitments for title insurance, appropriate hazard insurance, flood insurance, settlement statements, entity documentation, UCC searches and background checks
  • Manages all facets of loan closing, including the validation of document execution, loan disbursements, preparation of funding tickets, and payment of vendor expenses
  • Manages preparation of loan modification documents
  • Acts as LaserPro administrator and represents bank in associated conferences and work groups
  • Energizes and motivates team to provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers, while balancing the independence and requirements of appropriate documentation
  • Performs post-closing reviews and works closely with Loan Review, lenders, and credit executives to address and/or remediate loan documentation and loan closing issues; recognizes value in continuous improvement
  • Captures and coordinates loan packages with Loan Operations to board loans effectively

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors' degree in Business, English, Political Science or relatable field required
  • Paralegal experience preferred
  • Prior experience with consumer and commercial loan documentation
  • Demonstrated success managing consumer and commercial loan documentation processes
  • Knowledge of advanced consumer and commercial loan documentation
  • Advanced understanding of lending documentation regulations
  • Advanced understanding of state and federal regulations and bank policies and procedures relating to lending
  • Intermediate understanding of lending regulations and requirements
  • Advanced customer service skills
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced problem-solving skills
  • Advanced organizational skills
  • Advanced proficiency with loan origination and documentation systems
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Standing, walking, bending and stooping required
  • Must be able to sit at a desk for long periods of time and use a computer
  • Must be able to occasionally move or lift up to 10 pounds
  • May be asked to work supplemental hours periodically
  • Limited travel required during and after business hours
