About the role
The Loan Consultant plays a critical role in advancing LiftFund’s mission by supporting small business owners through the loan application process. This position ensures that entrepreneurs—particularly those lacking access to traditional capital—receive efficient, high-quality service while navigating LiftFund’s lending programs.
Responsibilities
- Manage an active pipeline of loan applications while maintaining high responsiveness to client needs and organizational timelines.
- Review incoming applications for accuracy and completeness, proactively identifying potential gaps or issues.
- Collect, verify, and package required documentation according to LiftFund’s credit policies and underwriting standards.
- Collaborate with Business Development Officers (BDOs), underwriters, and closers to ensure seamless loan processing and exceptional client experience.
- Conduct loan closings and ensure that all disbursement requirements are fulfilled accurately and timely.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records in LiftFund’s CRM and loan management systems.
- Ensure compliance with internal procedures, regulatory requirements, and data privacy standards.
- Regularly report on loan pipeline status, processing timeframes, and production metrics to supervisors and team members.
- Deliver outstanding customer service across multiple communication channels, including phone, email, text, and in-person interactions.
- Contribute to continuous process improvements that enhance speed, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
- Aim for first-contact resolution when addressing client inquiries or issues.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental goals and organizational mission.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of experience in financial analysis, loan processing, or a similar role.
- Two (2) years of experience using client relationship management (CRM) platforms or loan systems.
- Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite; ability to adopt new systems quickly.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in document review and data entry.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Strong communication skills—written, verbal, and interpersonal—with a focus on active listening and empathy.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Customer-first mindset and a commitment to providing a positive borrower experience.
- Results-driven, accountable, and committed to continuous improvement.
- Familiarity with SBA, EDA, or other government-funded loan programs is a plus.
- Experience in micro or small business lending, loan packaging, or closing preferred.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish highly desirable.
Qualifications
- No travel is expected for this position.
- This is a full-time, exempt position. The days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, but the schedule may vary based on the needs of the position and the timing of key meetings and events.
- When working on-site, work is performed in a routine office environment. Prolonged sitting and some standing required. Occasionally lift, pull, carry and push items weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
