Loader Operator (Night Shift)

Responsibilities

• Operate backhoes, pavers, dozers, scrapers, pans and graders to perform tasks such as paving, excavating, laying pipe, moving and grading dirt.
• Ensure safe operation of machines, perform maintenance, and upkeep.
• Discuss plans for the day's work with field manager, review blueprints if necessary, and determine the best method for completing assigned tasks safely, accurately, and on time.
• Adjust levers and depress pedals to operate equipment and control attachments like blades, buckets, scrapers, and swing booms.
• Perform maintenance duties such as cleaning, greasing, and oiling machines.
• Develop a feel for various levers and attachments through years of experience and improve skills such as fine grading and cutting slopes.
• Ensure safety for all personnel working around the equipment and maintain teamwork among operators.
• Make judgments about the most efficient operations of equipment and attachments.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of equipment operating experience required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
• Related work experience required.

• Very good hand, foot, and eye coordination to safely operate equipment.
• Able to operate for extended periods and get into awkward positions during maintenance.
• Extensive and heavy physical activity and dexterity required.
• Excellent communication (written/verbal) and time management skills.
• Specific vision requirements: close, color, and peripheral vision.
