About the Role
The role involves managing all general warehouse functions including loading, unloading, manual depalletizing, receiving, putting away, pulling and replenishing products, and selecting items when qualified and needed. This includes working in freezer, cooler, and dry warehouse environments with extreme cold and/or warm temperatures. Responsibilities include ensuring product integrity, maintaining accurate records, enforcing safety protocols, and supporting food safety policies.
Responsibilities
- Inspect and clean trailers before loading.
- Inspect product for shortages, damage, quality, or deterioration and report to supervisor.
- Load product onto trucks according to truck mapping and special instructions; follow established Preferred Work Methods (PWMs) to avoid damage and ensure load stability.
- Hand load product onto trucks as required.
- Control door lights to inform drivers if they are clear to position or pull trailers.
- Successfully complete forklift certification and testing, and perform PWMs.
- Work effectively with supervisors to minimize warehouse shrinkage and damage.
- Ensure work areas and travel aisles are neat and clean, and warehouse locations are accurate.
- Report any unfixable/unsafe issues immediately to supervisor.
- Enforce safety rules to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Operate appropriate material handling equipment (MHE) safely and maintain equipment.
- Use warehouse computers and RF equipment safely and professionally.
- Comply with company policies and applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
- Support food safety policies and standard operating procedures.
- Perform other warehouse duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must pass a functional capacity test.
- Must be able to work effectively in a team environment.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisors, management, and co-workers.
- Must be able to observe and communicate observations regarding equipment operation and maintenance.
- Education: High school diploma or GED preferred; six months previous warehouse experience and/or training preferred. Material handling equipment experience preferred. Reach truck experience preferred. Crown and/or Raymond reach truck experience a plus.
- Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to read and write simple correspondence. Ability to speak effectively in one-on-one and in a small group situations and respond to questions from managers, associates, and peers.
- MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Reasoning Abilities: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
