Loader - 2nd Shift
About the role
Join the Pennex team as a Loader on the 2nd shift at our Wellsville, PA location. This fast-paced, high-volume position involves loading and moving materials within or near the plant to meet customer delivery requirements. You will operate cranes, forklifts, pallet jacks, the combi, and the yard dog to ensure a steady flow of materials from the pack line to the staging area or trucks.
Responsibilities
- Read work orders or follow oral instructions to determine which materials or containers need to be loaded or moved.
- Load and unload materials using loading straps and forklifts to trailers or staging areas.
- Stage materials for ease of access to facilitate loading customer orders, collaborating with the team on best practices.
- Calculate weights and volumes to ensure safe and efficient use of space in loads.
- Make decisions on optimal loading methods for orders or staging materials.
- Load materials into vehicles and install strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
- Transfer materials from storage or work sites to designated areas, conferring with the team on the best storage methods.
- Secure lifting attachments to materials and move loads to destinations using cranes, forklifts, or the combi.
- Count, weigh, and record the number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheets.
- Optimize truck space by considering customer orders, weights, and stop sequences.
- Attach identifying tags or labels to materials or mark containers with location and weight information.
- Stack or assemble materials into bundles and band them together for staging on skids, ensuring proper bundle sizes.
- Lift heavy objects by hand or with a power hoist, and clean work areas, machines, and equipment.
- Assemble pallets and side-kit structures to secure and contain products on trailers, ensuring stability, protection, and safety compliance.
- Operate industrial trucks or electric hoists to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
- Maintain a neat and orderly work area, performing general housekeeping upon completion of tasks.
- Assist with housekeeping in the staging area and overflow baskets, and band baskets for transfers to the York location.
- Follow all safety procedures and safely load items.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- 1 to 3 years of warehouse experience is required; a combination of experience and education will be considered.
- Forklift experience is required; loading/unloading experience and shipping/packing knowledge are preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Must have or be able to obtain a Forklift Operator license.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) in all units of measure.
- Ability to use measuring devices such as tape measures or rulers.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
- Must be able to operate an overhead crane.
- Regular attendance is required.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States; visa sponsorships are not available.

- Attention to detail, particularly in optimizing truck space and ensuring proper load sizes.

- Collaboration and communication with team members to facilitate efficient workflows.
- Physical ability to stand frequently, walk, reach, talk, hear, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 4:30 PM to 12:30 AM.
Pay
Hourly pay range: $19.49 – $23.04 USD.
