Load Builder

About the Role

The Load Builder supports PARR’s mission of Legendary Service Through Teamwork by safely and efficiently building loads for drivers to deliver. Accuracy is critical to save time and money. The role also involves receiving and stocking inventory, and assisting customer service employees with walk-in orders.

This position reports to the General Manager or Dispatcher and interacts daily with the Operational Inventory Controller (OIC), Location Supervisor, Customer Service Employees, Drivers, and internal & external customers.

Responsibilities

• Build safe and efficient loads of building materials by correctly reading "pick tickets" and invoices
• Read SKUs and identify material types to accurately build loads
• Load and off-load company trucks with building materials both by hand and with a forklift
• Complete inventory adjustments and put stock away
• Tag loads and receive delivered inventory by inspecting paperwork for accuracy
• Deposit inventory in designated locations and open/close yard as needed
• Keep forklift clean and ensure appropriate paperwork is completed per company policy
• Maintain yard cleanliness during the course of work
• Know product substitutions, share that knowledge, and apply it to load building
• Cross-train as backup driver, receiver, counter sales, and dispatcher if needed
• Proactively learn products and applications for the end user
• Attend product knowledge meetings regularly
• Understand weight and length limits for the company’s fleet to safely and lawfully load trucks
• Wear proper high-visibility and safety gear
• Safely operate equipment, honk horn, and look before backing or rounding blind corners
• Perform daily safety audits of forklift and report malfunctioning equipment promptly
• Participate in safety committee when necessary
• Review and complete Hold Harmless form with customers

Requirements

• OSHA Certified Forklift License
• Knowledge of receiving/inventory control principles, practices, and protocols
• Knowledge of dimension lumber, panel products, and other building materials
• Ability to read and interpret "pick tickets" and invoices
• Ability to concentrate and attend to detail in a busy work environment

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods
• Must be able to grasp, talk, hear, and operate a computer and keyboard
• Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds and carry objects 50 feet
• Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Both local and overnight travel may be required
• Ability to cover different shifts when necessary

Pay

$19.97–$22.10 hourly
