LNG Business Development Lead
About the role
The LNG Business Development Lead at HDR is responsible for leading and overseeing the business strategy, client development, financial performance, and project delivery for HDR’s LNG Service Line. This role involves working closely with local operations managers, regional directors, and Industrial Sector leadership to ensure strategic planning, goal setting, budgeting, program leadership, client development, community and industry participation, project pursuits, and staffing.
Responsibilities
- Oversee both technical and financial performance for major environmental/compliance, planning, design, and field service programs.
- Work with local operations managers, regional directors, and Industrial Sector leadership in areas such as strategic planning, development of annual and long-term goals, budgeting, program leadership, client development, community and industry participation, project pursuits, and staffing.
- Develop and implement the strategy for continued profitable sustainable growth of HDR’s LNG Service Line.
- Position HDR to win work with clients including Gas Utilities, Developers, Midstream companies, and Major Oil & Gas companies.
- Provide technical oversight and leadership of project delivery in the LNG Service Line.
- Recruit, retain, mentor, and train key personnel required to develop and deliver LNG Service Line projects and build client relationships.
- Determine which HDR service offerings can be leveraged into the LNG market, including Cross Sector services and engineering services.
- Manage projects and/or provide Subject Matter expertise for LNG projects.
- Participate in development of strong client relationships and serve as client manager for key clients.
- Maintain awareness of new market trends and participate in the development and implementation of local and regional strategic and tactical planning.
- Facilitate major pursuit proposal reviews, client feedback, problem resolution, recognition activities, and client development within the Service Line.
- Encourage and participate in business and community activities as representative of HDR.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years LNG project management experience.
- A deep understanding of the LNG market, including Small/Midscale LNG market.
- A deep understanding of LNG facilities – how they operate, are maintained, upgraded, and improved.
- Strong relationships with clients who own/operate or develop LNG facilities.
- A solid network of people with a background in LNG engineering to recruit to HDR.
- Strong communication skills, and be self-motivated, organized, flexible, and able to work both independently and with a project team to complete tasks.
- A valid driver’s license and safe driving record is required.
- PMP Certification (preferred).
- Previous staff supervision experience (preferred).
- Willingness to travel up to 30% to support various HDR offices, project teams, and client engagement.
- Work cooperatively with diverse teams, regional, department, technical managers, and project staff.
- Strong understanding of identification, management, and mitigation of both project and owner/operator risk.

Qualifications
- A minimum of 15 years relevant industry experience.
- A demonstrated "self-starter" with a history of completing projects with limited oversight.
- A demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire others.

- A demonstrated ability to develop effective win strategies in sales.
- A demonstrated ability to manage finances and negotiate effectively.
- A demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- A proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- A desire and ability to travel and engage with others in-person.
- A demonstrated experience in growing programs in new or highly competitive markets.
- A demonstrated experience in winning high-value contracts in the A/E/C industry.
- A demonstrated experience in writing compelling content based on information from technical staff.

Pay
The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location. In North America, the pay range for this position is $180,000 - $260,000.
