Live Haul Driver
About the role
Be a vital link in the supply chain that keeps operations moving. As a Live Haul Driver, you will transport live chickens from poultry farms to the processing plant using a tractor trailer, ensuring deliveries are completed safely, humanely, and within required timeframes. Your attention to animal welfare, safe driving practices, and reliability will directly support farm partners and plant operations. Responsibilities
- Make pre-trip and post-trip inspections of truck and trailer and fill out DOT inspection forms at the end of each trip.
- Drive to and from farms, making 1 to 4 trips day and night with a driving range of 30 minutes to 4 hours without a stop.
- Carry cover during winter and assist with covering the load when the temperature is below 30 degrees.
- Cross scale with tractor and trailer before going to farms and when returning; fill trucks with fuel before scaling the full load.
- Secure empty modulars before leaving the plant and ensure full modulars are secured before returning.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2 years’ experience driving tractor-trailers.
- Class A CDL license.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed outdoors and in poultry house environments with exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, odors, noise, and uneven or muddy terrain.
- Position requires extended sitting, frequent climbing, bending, and walking on uneven surfaces, with the ability to lift 50 lbs. regularly.
- Must be able to safely operate a commercial vehicle while following all safety, animal welfare, and biosecurity protocols.
Pay
This position has a base rate of $30.60 per hour, with opportunities for overtime where applicable. Annual bonus available (variable depending on performance).
