About the Role

The Live Hanger works on the production line, placing live birds into shackles on a moving line to support processing flow. This hands‑on position helps maintain line speed, product quality, and a safe work environment.

Responsibilities

• Work on a line and retrieve birds by their feet from a conveyor.
• Hold birds weighing 2–6 lb by both feet.
• Hang birds in shackles at a reach of ~32 inches, achieving a rate of 28 birds per minute.
• Ensure birds are placed properly to prevent bruising or damage.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Participate in company and department safety programs.
• Rotate regularly as required by the position.

Requirements

• Minimum of 6 months consecutive work history with one employer in the past 3 years in a comparable field.
• High school diploma or equivalent is beneficial but not required.
• Experience in a poultry processing/manufacturing environment.
• Prior experience hanging live chickens.
• Physical ability to stand for several hours, lift up to 50 lb, reach, bend, and push boxes on a conveyor.
• Exposure to wet, moist floors with metal/plastic grating; temperatures 28 °F–100 °F; humidity up to 100 %.
• Exposure to noise levels of 50 dB–110 dB, dust, feathers, and chemicals used in poultry processing.
• Use of required protective and safety equipment; occasional exposure to carbon dioxide (10 ppm) and chlorine (

Pay

Base rate of $22.45 per hour, with opportunities for pay premiums, shift differentials, overtime, and a variable annual bonus based on performance.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 5:45 am until processing is complete.
