Lititgation Associate

We are a well-established and growing law firm seeking talented California-licensed civil defense attorneys to join our expanding litigation practice. The firm is open to attorneys at multiple levels and offers an unusually flexible work environment, including in-office, hybrid, and fully remote options.

About the role

Attorneys will handle a diverse caseload involving sophisticated civil litigation matters and will have meaningful responsibility throughout the litigation process.

• Managing multiple cases from inception through resolution
• Conducting legal research and drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery
• Taking and defending depositions
• Handling court appearances, hearings, mediations, and settlement conferences
• Assisting with trial preparation and, where appropriate, trial participation
• Reviewing and analyzing documents and discovery
• Developing case strategy and communicating directly with clients, opposing counsel, and other parties
• Managing deadlines and working efficiently and independently

Requirements

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
• Active California Bar membership in good standing
• 2+ years of civil litigation experience; defense litigation experience preferred

Skills

• Strong research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills
• Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines effectively
• Strong client communication skills
• Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively
• Deposition, motion practice, mediation, and trial experience preferred
