Responsibilities
- Assist litigation teams with all aspects of litigation in California state and federal courts, including motion practice, discovery, depositions and document review
- Prepare initial drafts of motions and pleadings, and assemble supporting documentation
- Conduct legal research, prepare case summaries, and assist with trial preparation
- Draft, review, and respond to discovery related documents such as requests for production, answers, demurrers, motions to strike, etc.
- Independently prepare for and take the lead on plaintiff and other fact witness depositions (typically via Zoom)
- Absorb and manage document review in Relativity and other review platforms; conduct responsiveness and privilege analysis, create and run searches and analytical queries, manage coding and assist with production
- Prepare fact summaries, case chronologies, and case analyses to support motions, hearings, and trial strategy
- Collaborate with supervising attorneys and colleagues to support litigation strategy and case management
Qualifications
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and admission in good-standing with the Bar of California is required
- Minimum 2+ years of litigation experience in both California state and federal courts
- Experience with product liability and mass tort litigation preferred, but candidates with personal injury, medical malpractice, or commercial litigation experience will also be considered
- Experience taking plaintiff and other fact witness depositions
- Experience handling written discovery, pleadings and motions and conducting legal research
- Effective communicator with excellent project management skills and attention to detail
- A proactive and collaborative mindset, with a strong sense of ownership, accountability, and innovation
- Strong organizational skills, analytical ability, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Pay
The annual salary for this position will be $140,000-$200,000, commensurate with experience
Schedule
This position will be full-time, and can be either in-office or 100% remote, based on the preference of the candidate
