About the role
The firm is a growing 100-year-old law firm in Manhattan, NY that seeks a Litigation Attorney with a focus on commercial foreclosure matters, complex commercial litigation, complex contractual disputes, and strong familiarity with state and federal consumer protection laws and courts in New Jersey.
Responsibilities
- Represent clients in disputes brought under state and federal consumer protection laws, including the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).
- Defend clients against common-law claims related to consumer finance and creditors' rights.
- Write and draft pleadings and motions with exceptional writing and drafting skills.
- Advocate effectively through strong verbal communication skills.
- Collaborate with the team to solve problems and meet client and team needs.
- Work independently, proactively, and creatively to meet client and team needs.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of solid commercial litigation experience, preferably in consumer finance and creditors' rights.
- Strong writing skills, including drafting and arguing pleadings and motions.
- Excellent verbal communication and advocacy skills.
- Excellent technical, legal research, professional, and client service skills.
- Team-oriented with a collaborative approach.
- Effective problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently, proactively, and creatively to meet client and team needs.
- New Jersey and New York bar admission in good standing.
