Key Responsibilities
- Manage cases through all phases of litigation, from inception through resolution
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery demands, and responses
- Conduct legal research and develop case strategies
- Take and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, and experts
- Participate in mediations, arbitrations, settlement conferences, and court appearances
- Collaborate with partners and clients to evaluate risk and develop litigation strategies
- Prepare witnesses and experts for testimony
- Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and insurance representatives
- Maintain accurate case files, billing records, and litigation deadlines
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
- Active admission to the New York State Bar and in good standing
- 25 years of litigation experience
- Experience in insurance defense, commercial litigation, labor and employment, premises liability, products liability, transportation, municipal law, or related practice areas (plus)
- Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Collaborative mindset with a commitment to exceptional client service
