About the role
A respected Buffalo law firm is seeking an Insurance Coverage Attorney to join its collaborative and expanding practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with experience analyzing complex insurance coverage issues and providing strategic counsel to insurers, insureds, and corporate clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and interpret insurance policies, including commercial general liability, professional liability, excess and umbrella, directors and officers, cyber, and other specialty coverages
- Draft detailed coverage opinions and reservation of rights letters
- Provide strategic advice to clients regarding coverage positions, risk exposure, and claims handling
- Manage declaratory judgment actions and insurance coverage litigation matters
- Conduct legal research and prepare pleadings, motions, briefs, and other litigation documents
- Monitor developments in insurance law and emerging coverage issues
- Collaborate with clients, claims professionals, underwriters, and outside experts
- Participate in mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and court appearances as needed
- Develop strong client relationships through exceptional service and responsiveness
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
- Active admission to the New York State Bar and in good standing
- Experience handling insurance coverage matters, coverage litigation, or complex insurance defense cases
- Strong understanding of New York insurance law and policy interpretation
- Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to independently manage multiple matters and deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and sound professional judgment
- Collaborative mindset and commitment to client service
