Job Details
We are seeking a civil litigation defense attorney with at least 3 years of experience to join our fully remote litigation team. This role is well-suited for an attorney who is comfortable managing cases independently while working within a collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of civil litigation defense matters from inception through resolution
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and legal memoranda
- Take and defend depositions
- Appear for hearings, conferences, mediations, and other proceedings (remote and in-person as needed)
- Prepare cases for trial and assist with or lead trial efforts where applicable
- Communicate directly with clients, carriers, opposing counsel, and the courts
- Develop case strategy and analyze liability, damages, and risk exposure
- Collaborate with attorneys and staff in a remote team environment
Qualifications
- 3+ years of civil litigation defense experience
- Experience in insurance defense, general liability, or similar litigation work
- Strong background in depositions, discovery, and motion practice
- Trial experience or meaningful trial exposure strongly preferred
- Ability to independently manage a litigation caseload
- Strong written and oral advocacy skills
Requirements
- Active bar admission in Vermont and/or New Hampshire, or ability to waive in
- Massachusetts bar admission strongly preferred
- Additional bar admissions are a significant plus
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to manage deadlines and multiple matters simultaneously
- Comfortable working in a fully remote environment
Pay
The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $100,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
