About the role

Vernis & Bowling’s downtown St. Petersburg office is seeking Associate Attorneys for its Civil Litigation Defense department. Candidates taking the Florida Bar in July 2026 are welcome to apply!

Responsibilities

• Direct and lead files
• Provide initial analysis
• Develop case strategy
• Conduct discovery
• Take depositions
• Draft motions
• Attend hearings
• Negotiate settlements
• Assist with and lead trials

Requirements

• 0+ years of civil litigation experience
• Current membership (or soon to be member) of the Florida Bar in good standing

• Commitment to building skills and experience
• Desire for a long-term career

Skills

• Strong legal research and writing skills
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
