Roles And Responsibilities
The Literacy tutor works side by side with the school reading specialists to help students improve early literacy skills, including phonemic awareness and fluency.
Qualifications
- High school diploma; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Teacher licensure in grades K-8 preferred
- License must be an active Virginia license to receive the licensed rate
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Ability to relate to children, teachers, and other school staff
- Knowledge of educational evidence-based best practices in education
- Ability to keep and maintain accurate records and meet deadlines
Physical Requirements
- Regularly talking, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word
- Sitting and/or remaining in a stationary position for long periods of time
- Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
- Possessing normal cognitive abilities including the ability to learn, recall and apply certain practices and policies
