About the role
The Literacy Curriculum Specialist supports teachers in implementing the Green Dot ELA and ELD Programs at multiple schools through coaching, professional development, and curriculum development.
Responsibilities
- Provide teachers with instructional coaching and support to implement grade-level standards-aligned ELA and ELD instruction for ALL students
- Implement a variety of coaching services in alignment with co-constructed coaching goals and student outcomes (co-planning, student work analysis, data analysis, co-teaching or demo lessons, guided peer observations, etc.)
- Collaborate with administrators and department leaders at school sites around department goals for ELA instruction
- Support adopted curriculum and GD ELA courses through the creation of supporting resources (pacing recommendations, grading guidance, assessment design, etc.)
- Support the implementation of ELA assessments by coaching teachers and supporting schools with analyzing available data and planning for adjustments to instruction
- Work collaboratively to plan and facilitate ELA professional development
- Support the implementation of district and school-wide literacy strategies
- Engage in other duties relevant to the successful implementation of the Green Dot ELA and ELD Programs
Qualifications
- Have a passion for dramatically improving student experiences and outcomes in science and a belief in serving ALL students
- Have at least four years of successful teaching of English at the secondary school level
- Have a valid secondary English credential
- Have a master’s degree in education or related field (preferred)
- Able to travel between the Central Office (Downtown LA) and school sites/other locations around the greater Los Angeles area
- Have knowledge of the Common Core ELA Standards, CA ELD Standards, and aligned instruction
- Have knowledge of differentiated classroom instructional practices that promote student academic success in science
- Have knowledge and understanding of the needs of a diverse student population
- Possess strong oral and written communication skills
- Be experienced in collaborative planning and delivery of differentiated staff development to classroom teachers
- Be dependable, humble, have a sense of humor and a rock-solid commitment to Green Dot’s mission and the communities we serve
- Will need to pass a TB test and background check at time of offer
