About the role
This position is within HDR’s Building Engineering Services Group and is responsible for the execution of the technical aspects and deliverables of HDR’s federal and commercial liquid fuels infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will be a professional engineer with a deep understanding of the technical requirements of projects ranging from basic to significant complexity.
Responsibilities
- Monitor, grow, and participate in the execution of HDR’s Federal and commercial portfolio of Liquid Fuels Infrastructure services throughout HDR.
- Manage key projects or programs, including managing technical staff and sub-consultant teams to meet project delivery needs and exceed client expectations.
- Provide analysis, evaluation, and design of fuel systems for both military and commercial clients.
- Participate in Liquid Fuels Infrastructure marketing efforts, communications, and client development with business, operations, marketing, and project staff to maximize client satisfaction, company growth, and profitability.
- Work with local and regional operations and national leadership to build capabilities through recruitment and staff training.
- Lead in the design of liquid petroleum fuel systems, including above ground operational and bulk storage systems, hydrant fuel distribution systems, marine transload and distribution systems, vehicle on and off loading systems, and supporting pipeline, pump, and mechanical systems.
- Independently coordinate the work of engineers and balance resource planning throughout an entire project's development.
- Coordinate workload throughout an entire project's development and ensure completion of documents on schedule.
- Track financial aspects of projects, and coordinate/adjust work effort with teams to ensure that work is completed within parameters of agreed-to schedule.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Requirements
- Actively engaged in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR technical expertise and brand.
- Master's degree in Architectural Engineering with Mechanical emphasis, Healthcare, Science and Technology, or Civic facilities experience preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
- A minimum of 10 years in mechanical system design of commercial or institutional buildings required.
- A professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, MS Project, and AutoCAD.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, previous team coordination, and project management experience.
- Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm.
