About the role

Design, develop, and improve software using industry-aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools to provide business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. Ensure code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance. Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration with business objectives. Stay informed of industry technology trends and contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster technical excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver high-quality software solutions.
  • Ensure code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product managers, designers, engineers) to define requirements and solution strategies.
  • Participate in code reviews and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Adhere to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities and protect sensitive data.
  • Implement effective unit testing practices to ensure code reliability.
  • Lead or contribute to collaborative, multi-year assignments, guiding technical direction and training less experienced specialists.
  • Advise key stakeholders, including senior management, on functional and cross-functional areas of impact.
  • Manage and mitigate risks through assessment, supporting the control and governance agenda.
  • Demonstrate leadership and accountability for risk management and strengthening controls.
  • Collaborate with other business areas to align with business strategies and activity.
  • Create solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought, comparing complex alternatives.
  • Build and maintain trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve business objectives.

Requirements

  • Considerable engineering background in Python and/or Java, with proficiency in both preferred. Demonstrate deep expertise in one language with working competence in the other.
  • Extensive experience with AWS, including services such as ECS, Lambda, S3, API Gateway, Step Functions, and IAM.
  • Understanding of Kubernetes for deploying and operating containerized services in production environments.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical trade-offs to both engineering peers and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of AI/ML concepts and experience integrating AI capabilities such as LLM APIs, embeddings, and retrieval patterns into software applications.

Skills

  • Domain knowledge in Liquid Financing, including Prime Brokerage, Fixed Income Financing, Stock Borrow & Loan (SBL), or Custody business lines.
  • Experience working directly with Quants and Strats, understanding their workflows, data requirements, and how technology supports quantitative functions.
  • Familiarity with financial instruments, trade lifecycle, or risk systems in a front-office technology context.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures, message streaming (e.g., Kafka/MSK), or real-time data processing pipelines.
  • Exposure to DevSecOps practices and financial services regulatory or compliance technology requirements.

  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of organizational functions to contribute to business goals.

Pay

Base salary range: $170,000 – $230,000. The range includes base salary only and does not include other compensation or benefits.

Location

This role is located in our New York, NY office.
