Linux Engineer

About the Role

Leidos is seeking a Linux engineer with Debian experience and automation skills (Ansible, scripting, AI integration) to enhance team efficiency. The selected candidate will join an existing team of skilled Linux engineers, bringing expertise to bridge engineering and automation efforts.

This office builds and operates a hybrid-cloud mission infrastructure hosting dozens of COTS, GOTS, and custom applications, as well as a large data lake. The system includes on-premises components across multiple data centers and commercial cloud resources.

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform engineering efforts for Windows and Linux servers, workstations, storage, and virtualization.
• Perform data center management tasks, including physical capacity management, hardware installation, commissioning, inventory, decommissioning, removal, and destruction.
• Coordinate engineering projects, including technical risk assessment, implementation de-confliction, and resolving technical questions or conflicts.
• Gather performance and utilization metrics from infrastructure components and proactively inform the customer when thresholds are met.
• Maintain an accurate inventory of accountable property and electronic network encryption devices.
• Manage and deploy infrastructure components, including installing cables, circuits, and labeling; build and maintain desktop workstations; and provide troubleshooting and patching.
• Perform Tier-3 engineering and support for virtualization infrastructure, including virtual servers, virtual desktops, and automation solutions.
• Provide oversight and maintenance for Windows Group Policy, build and maintain Windows servers in Amazon Web Services, and deploy/maintain configuration standards in accordance with the Sponsor’s security posture.
• Provide 24/7 Tier 2 through Tier 4 level support and problem resolution for technology products and applications.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI with Poly clearance required.
• Bachelor’s degree and at least 12 years of experience, OR a Master’s degree and at least 10 years of experience, OR at least 16 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
• Debian Linux experience.
• Configuration and management of VMware vCenter and VMware NSX-T.
• Experience coordinating engineering projects, including technical risk assessment, implementation de-confliction, and resolving technical conflicts.
• Experience operating and maintaining Active Directory, DNS, DFS, and DHCP.
• Maintaining DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) in accordance with security posture.
• Supporting operations and maintenance of infrastructure environments.
• Experience with Splunk, Check_MK, McAfee EPO, and BitLocker.
• Managing requirements using the ServiceNow application.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Rocky Linux.
• Creating and presenting system documentation briefings to review and approval boards.
• Hands-on experience with the Sponsor’s property destruction process.
• Experience with Center for Internet Security Benchmarks.
• Experience with VMware Horizon VDI.
• Managing Sponsor’s accountable and network encryption devices property.

Certifications

• Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE).
• Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP).
• A+ Certified Service Engineer.

Pay

Pay Range: $131,300.00 - $237,350.00. The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered include responsibilities, education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreements, or other law.
