Lineworker

Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative (ILEC) is seeking a qualified applicant for the position of Lineworker at our Pocahontas, Iowa, Service Center.

Responsibilities

• Perform overhead and underground electrical distribution line construction, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair in a safe and efficient manner.
• Respond to outages and emergency situations as required.
• Safely operate vehicles, equipment, and tools used to construct and maintain overhead and underground electric distribution facilities.
• Follow all safety regulations, Cooperative policies, and industry standards while performing assigned duties.
• Assist with other operations and service center functions as needed.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of a Power Line Technology program or equivalent lineworker training is required.
• Three to four years of linework experience or Journeyman Lineworker status is preferred.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Iowa Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• Must successfully complete a pre-employment drug test.
• Must reside within, or be willing to relocate to, the designated service area and meet the residency requirements for the assigned service center.

Skills

• Working knowledge of electric distribution system construction, operation, maintenance, REA/RUS line construction specifications, the National Electric Safety Code, and basic electrical theory including single- and multi-phase systems, transformers, and metering.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and customer service skills with a demonstrated commitment to safety.
