Linen Technician - PRN as needed - Day Shift

About the Role

This position is a PRN (as needed) non-benefited day shift role. The Linen Technician is responsible for the daily delivery and pick-up of clean exchange and bulk linen carts to each unit requiring a cart in the facility. The role reports directly to the Environmental Services Director/Manager or Laundry Director/Manager depending on the facility.

Responsibilities

• Perform physical inventory of linen using a hand-held device.
• Deliver and pick up clean exchange and bulk linen carts to each unit according to established timetables within an 8-hour shift.
• Respond to units requesting additional linen when supplies are depleted, assessing needs to provide appropriate quantities until the next scheduled delivery.
• Keep Spectralink (or other hospital-provided phone/equipment) operational and on at all times.
• Interact with customers to ensure linen is delivered in the appropriate time frame and quantities are accurate.
• Accurately count all remaining linen in exchange carts being returned to the clean linen room and record data in a hand-held device for entry into the Control-Tex Inventory system.
• Neatly place clean linen back onto carts or shelves.
• Coordinate with staff and drivers for proper staging of carts being delivered, ensuring appropriate carts are returned to Laundry or delivered to the facility.
• Maintain cleanliness of the clean linen storeroom, consolidate partially full carts, and remove all empty carts to the hall.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Comply with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED (required).
• Previous linen delivery and inventory experience (preferred).
• Computer experience (preferred).
• Control-Tex Software experience (preferred).

Skills

• Computer and data entry experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively with various members of the healthcare team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, with basic computer operational knowledge.
• Epic and 3M experience (preferred).
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Understanding of verbal and written instructions.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently.
• Ability to count and follow instructions from supervisory staff.
