Lineman - Telecom

POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Lineman at LJA Telecom, you will be responsible for placing Aerial Strands, Cables, and all associated components with Aerial Construction. You will also be willing to be on-call rotation to assist your team.

TYPICAL DAY

• Ability to read cable, phone and fiber prints
• Read prints for accuracy and scope of work
• Follow safety rules and practices (Wearing PPE, Set-up Work Zone, proper cones, spacing and traffic signs, etc.)
• Able to ascend utility poles via aerial bucket truck, climbing gaffs and a safety lineman’s belt safely
• Lineman is responsible for all paperwork for jobs completed on a daily basis
• Maintain a professional working attitude with managers, co-workers and customers at all times
• Responsible for maintaining, cleaning, and organizing work area, truck, equipment, tools and office location
• Timely completion of required documentation
• Turning in fuel slips and truck/equipment walkthroughs weekly fully completed
• Maintain a clean workspace and clean shop/yard space
• Possess the physical stamina to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting heavy objects, working in various weather conditions, and performing manual labor
• Handle tools, equipment, and materials safely and efficiently
• Maintain and organize tools and equipment in proper working conditions
• Responsible for assuring that all necessary and required paperwork and documentation is properly, correctly, and promptly submitted both for internal company recordkeeping and for documentation required by customers
• Other duties as assigned or requested

REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS

• Maintain a valid driver's license.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• The ability to lift 75 lbs.
• The ability to work outdoors in a diverse environment.
• Must be able to work from heights from an elevated aerial device. (0' to 80')
• Must be able to work on feet all day
• Must be able to bend, climb, and squat to perform job duties in the field.
• Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 80 pounds.
• Must have sufficient hand and finger dexterity to safely operate tools and equipment.
• Must be able to detect odors and fumes as necessary for safe work performance.
• Must be able to walk, stand, and work outdoors for extended periods in various conditions.
• Must have adequate hearing and vision to perform duties safely and effectively.
• Must be 21 years or older to be considered for this position.
• Must be willing and able to travel for project sites and team coordination.
