The Lineman I Telecom is a career opportunity to connect America. This role involves installing and repairing aerial telecommunications cable, operating various tools and equipment, setting up safety perimeters, and adhering to safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Install and repair aerial telecommunications cable
• Safely use hand tools and equipment such as wrenches, drills, ladders, lanyards, saws, lashers, climbing hooks, and more
• Safely operate mechanized equipment such as bucket trucks, digger derricks, excavators, and more
• Set up safety perimeter using signage, cones, safety barriers
• Flag traffic when required
• Understand separation and clearance regulations
• Safely work aloft using climbing hooks and ladders
• Maintain safe working habits/conditions according to all regulations, procedures and policies

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Authorization to work in the United States for this company
• High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
• Valid state driver's license (cannot be Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
• Pass a background check and company drug screening
• Attend and pass all company required training as needed
• May be required to work over-time; after hours; on weekends, for emergencies or be on-call as work is needed to ensure work is completed
• May include working nights and holidays as needed
• May be required to travel in state or overnight as necessary to meet business and job requirements
• Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position

Qualifications

• Previous construction experience, preferably in the telecommunications industry
• Knowledge of established aerial cable installation procedures and techniques
• Able to climb telephone poles and work in a bucket truck and work aloft and climb poles up to 40 feet
• Able to perform all duties in telecommunications construction (such as; pole transfers, maintenance builds, new build, cable installation, over lash, and strand construction)
• Able to lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs as needed with or without assistance
• Know the color code system for cable pairs or be willing to learn
• Possess strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Able to work in confined spaces
• Able to work with internal and external customers
• Strong interpersonal communication skills to effectively communicate with product vendors and customers

Physical & Safety Requirements

• The noise level in the work environment for this position is moderate
• Employees performing functions of this position are regularly exposed to outside weather conditions which can include but is not limited to: extreme heat and cold temperatures; inclement weather such as rain, snow, sleet and dust as well as adverse driving conditions including wet roads, icy roads, and fog
• Employees may be exposed to toxic or corrosive chemicals as well as moving machinery parts and pieces
• Specific vision abilities required to perform this job include but are not limited to: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus potentially near and/or far as needed

Pay

The Lineman II Telecom hourly wage range is $30.00 - $35.00 depending on experience.
