About the role
The Lineman I Telecom is a career opportunity to connect America through aerial cable installation and repair. This role requires a combination of technical skills and safety awareness.
Responsibilities
- Install and repair aerial telecommunications cable
- Safely use hand tools and equipment such as wrenches, drills, ladders, lanyards, saws, lashers, climbing hooks, and more
- Safely operate mechanized equipment such as bucket trucks, digger derricks, excavators, and more
- Set up safety perimeter using signage, cones, safety barriers
- Flag traffic when required
- Understand separation and clearance regulations
- Safely work aloft using climbing hooks and ladders
- Maintain safe working habits/conditions according to all regulations, procedures and policies
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Authorization to work in the United States for this company
- High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
- Valid state driver's license (cannot be Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
- Pass a background check and company drug screening
- Attend and pass all company required training as needed
- Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position
Qualifications
- Previous construction experience, preferably in the telecommunications industry
- Knowledge of established aerial cable installation procedures and techniques
- Able to climb telephone poles and work in a bucket truck and work aloft and climb poles up to 40 feet
- Able to perform all duties in telecommunications construction (such as pole transfers, maintenance builds, new build, cable installation, over lash, and strand construction)
- Able to lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs as needed with or without assistance
- Knowledge of the color code system for cable pairs or willing to learn
- Possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Able to work in confined spaces
- Able to communicate effectively with product vendors and customers
Physical & Safety Requirements
- The noise level in the work environment is moderate
- Exposure to extreme heat and cold temperatures, inclement weather, and adverse driving conditions
- Exposure to toxic or corrosive chemicals and moving machinery parts and pieces
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

Pay
The Lineman I Telecom hourly wage range is $25.00 - $30.00 depending on experience.

Schedule
Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position. Employees may be required to work over-time; after hours; on weekends, for emergencies or be on-call as work is needed to ensure work is completed. May include working nights and holidays as needed. May be required to travel in state or overnight as necessary to meet business and job requirements.
