Lineperson Class B role focused on installing, repairing, and maintaining overhead and underground electrical distribution and transmission systems.

Responsibilities

  • Set poles and anchors
  • String overhead wire
  • Install transformers, lightning arresters, cutouts, cross arms, insulators, switches, and switchgear
  • Perform new construction, maintenance, or repair work on energized and de-energized overhead lines while complying with all Safety and Health rules
  • Troubleshoot issues with primary and secondary systems
  • Replace cutout fuses and clear faulted circuits and systems
  • Conduct daily testing and inspection of assigned tools and equipment to maintain safety and efficiency
  • Report all injuries, near misses, and other safety and health concerns to the Foreperson
  • Perform any other duties related to the installation of overhead power supply or as requested by Supervisors

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment and ability to problem-solve in unidentified circumstances
  • Experience working with energized high-voltage systems requiring a specific skill set
  • Able to climb different structures and possess the necessary tools for climbing
  • Must be able to identify, operate, and service all required tools and equipment (e.g., bucket truck, digger derrick truck, tensioners, puller, rollers, hand tamp, chain saw, concrete saw, shovel)
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in the electrical power line construction industry
  • Ability to provide proof of work experience, schooling, and certifications
  • Valid driver’s license required; willingness to obtain a CDL within 90 days of employment preferred
  • Willing to travel out of state for emergency storm work

  • Continuous (up to 100%): Standing, walking, sense of touch, speaking clearly, seeing distant, seeing, reaching, range of motion, hearing-speech range, depth perception, color vision, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, lifting over 10 lbs. to 50 lbs., balancing, lifting up to 10 lbs., lifting up to 50 lbs.
