About the role
This position will be based out of Effingham, IL, with orientation and training at the St. Louis, MO terminal. The role involves driving a tractor trailer long-distance between terminal locations to pick up and drop off freight.
Pay
Starting wage is $0.78 per mile, increasing to $0.81 per mile after the first year. Drivers are also eligible for a quarterly safety incentive bonus of $250, earning up to $1,000 annually based on eligibility.
Schedule
Shift is Monday through Friday with a 5:00 PM start.

Responsibilities
- Drive a commercial vehicle safely while transporting freight between terminals
- Load and unload trailer, either individually or with assistance of dockworkers
- Use mechanic freight handling equipment where available and appropriate
- Perform frequent lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying of freight
- Secure freight through strapping or other methods
- Inspect the vehicle for defects and safe operating conditions as required by law and company policy
- Comply with all Federal requirements regarding the transportation of hazardous materials
- Drive tractor-trailer in all conditions in accordance with Federal regulations, including hours of service limitations
- Maintain records required for compliance with State and Federal regulations, including driver's logs
- Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures
Requirements
- Minimum age of 23
- Minimum of 1 year of verifiable tractor-trailer experience
- Must pass a road test administered by a Dohrn Transfer Driver Trainer
- Must possess or obtain Hazardous Material and Tanker endorsements on a valid CDL
- Only one valid driver's license (CDL) issued by the resident state
- No record of DUI/OWI or reckless driving within the previous 5 years
- Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
- Must pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination and functional screen
- Must consent to a pre-employment drug screen and receive a negative result
- Negative controlled substances and alcohol result from prior employer(s) for the past three-year period
- No prior evidence of controlled substance use or refusal to submit to testing within the past three years
- Must consent to a 10-year check on work history; gaps of 30 days or more must be explained
- Ability to read and write English and perform simple mathematical calculations
Working Conditions
- Gripping of various sizes and weights of up to 100 pounds
- Lifting of up to 100 pounds from ground level to 45"; lifting at waist level or 36”
- Front carry up to 100 pounds for 250 feet
- Push/pull up to 60 pounds of horizontal force
- Sitting up to 10 hours per day
- Standing and walking occurs frequently
- Climbing, squatting, crouching, balancing, or kneeling occurs occasionally; crawling occurs rarely
- Reaching occurs frequently while shifting gears, moving freight, loading and unloading trailers, and turning the steering wheel
- Grasping and handling occurs frequently while loading and unloading freight, opening and closing trailer doors, and turning the steering wheel
- Critical to speak with coworkers and customers to safely perform essential job functions
- Vision is used constantly for driving, reading maps, and inspecting the truck
- Smell is used occasionally to check for leaks
- Hearing is used frequently to listen for unusual or warning sounds
